Introducing Henry Robert

He's Here!!

Henry Robert was born on August 25th at 7:06pm. He weighed 8lbs 8 1/2 oz. and was 21 in. long.
THE STORY:

I went in to the dr. on Monday at 10:30 because I had been having some labor pains and wanted some confirmation that I was dilating more--that all this pain was paying off some how. Well, that's not what I found out. I was still at a 3, but my blood pressure was high. I was put on some monitors and the bp got better, but the doc came in at 12:00 and said the when blood pressure goes up like this so close to the due date he just would rather deliver the baby. So, at 12:35 he broke my water and by 1:35 I was started on Pitocin. Since Pitocin is really mean, it didn't take long before I was asking for an epidural STAT. Thank God for Epidurals. I pushed for about an hour and half and by 7:06 pm we had ourselves a little boy!!

38 Weeks

Well, I had my weekly appointment today and am proud to announce that I am dilated to 3 cm now. My doc said "at this rate you'll deliver sometime in October." He thinks he's funny. I think that's great progress. I'm a third of the way there, right?! At any rate...I'll have another appointment next Friday and he said he'd help speed things along on that day by doing things to membranes....I won't go in to detail. So, stay tuned for yet another week. I'll be sure to let you all know if anything exciting happens before the 28th!

Congrats to Bill and Stacey who welcomed Alixandra AnnMarie to the world very early this morning. She weighed in at 8lbs 14oz. 22 inches long. Both mom and baby are doing great :)

Full Term

I had my weekly appointment on Friday and was not surprised to hear that nothing new is happening. I'm still dilated to 2cm. Shocker. I asked the doc to take a guess at how big the baby is. I'm pretty convinced I'm already carrying around a 10 pounder. His guess was around 6 1/2 to 7 pounds. I'm thinking this is a pretty good birth weight.....anything over 8 pounds just isn't necessary, right?! So, the wait is on.

August 8

So my appointment went well. I am dilated to a 2, but was promptly told that I could stay that way for the next few weeks without anything happening :( I am officially done buying things for the baby's room (until I figure out there is something else I have to have). So I have anywhere from 3-5 weeks left until I can start sleeping on my tummy and bending over at will. And I'm getting very ready to do those fun things...
Other than that--We have a family reunion this weekend and my sister and her b/f will be in town--yeah.
